GreenCollarWoman® is happy to bring you two inspirational, business-focused workshops during our July training day. If you are responsible for CSR or Sustainability inside your organisation or advise corporate and other clients on CSR and Sustainability-related issues, these workshops should not be missed. Jane Burston, one of the UK’s '30 most influential women under 30' (Real Business) and Jim Craig, former Head of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Sustainability for Sun Microsystems Ltd will be your facilitators.
Taking Carbon off the Market: An alternative to traditional carbon offsetting | 10AM-12:30PM
Carbon offsetting enables responsible organisations to take greater responsibility their carbon emissions by compensating for what you cannot avoid after you have avoided or minimised your emissions as much as you can. Over 3000 UK business use carbon offsets and this number is on the rise. But not all approaches to carbon offsetting are created equal. It has proved to be a confusing market and dubious offsets are rife.
This workshop will help you sift through the noise and get a better understanding of an alternative to traditional carbon offsetting – purchasing carbon emissions credits to voluntarily retire/cancel them before they are used to emit carbon dioxide – an approach Paul Gilding, formerly a CEO of Greenpeace International calls “the most pure way to offset”.
5 Steps to profit from CSR / Getting CSR “right” and right into your organisation | 1:30PM – 4:15PM
Given the current difficult economic conditions and competing priorities, how do you get CSR implemented in your organisation? How do you convince your peers, senior managers and Board that CSR presents an opportunity to achieve business growth and even increased profit while being a better business?
This workshop will address the challenges of getting corporate social responsibility (CSR) implemented in your organization. You will be introduced to a method to assess the values, voice (communication styles) of your organisation and create a compelling CSR vision. We will also examine some of the key business outcomes you can deliver as messages to business colleagues and stakeholders.
