This GreenCollarWoman event will focus on the role of marketing and communications in encouraging and generating sustainable behaviours.

SPEAKERS

Joanna Daniels

Joanna Daniels, Marketplace Director, Business in the Community (BITC)

Jo has been with BITC for nine years, is currently the Marketplace Director and a member of the Executive Team. For the last five years she has been working with members to integrate responsible business into commercial operations, looking at the impact of products and services, relationships with suppliers and customers.

Jo will speal about the examples analysed in the publication How Can Marketers Build Sustainable Success where businesses such as Cadbury, Unilever and Marshalls demonstrate they can achieve profit and societal change through sustainable marketing.

Imogen Martineau, Director, Martineau & Co

Imogen is an expert in communications and sustainability. Prior to setting up Martineau & Co, Imogen was Head of Communications at Forum for the Future - the UKs leading sustainable development charity. In three years she set up the communications team, re-branded the organization and launched Jonathon Porritts blog. Before that, she was Development Manager at Liftshare.com (the UKs largest car-sharing scheme), which followed three years working in the strategy team of the British Red Cross.

Imogen will discuss - amongst other things - her recent work with the United Nations Environment Programme to launch an award-winning campaign called Greening the Blue (www.greeningtheblue.org).

Caroline Fiennes

Caroline Fiennes, Executive Director, Global Cool Foundation

Caroline joined Global Cool Foundation because “all the changes we need to make if we’re to avoid the massive problems of climate change rely on people, and we can’t assume that everybody understands – or is interested in understanding – the problem. So we need to talk to them about what they are interested in, and use that to influence them.”

Her background is in commercial marketing and strategy: marketing is about influencing behaviour, so it was a good training ground. Caroline 'grew up' in commercial strategy consulting, and then led the client service business at New Philanthropy Capital, where she helped charitable funders to make the most of their resources: she has worked with well-known names such as the Sainsbury Family Charitable Trusts, Big Lottery Fund, Booz & Co., the Home Office, Morgan Stanley as well as many families and smaller foundations. She joined from the Carbon Trust, where she managed a company advising companies on engaging their people on climate change.

Caroline is also a London Leader and holds a Shackleton Foundation Leadership Award.

The Forge, located in London, is a brand new architecturally-designed sustainable building. All spaces have been created with environmental concerns in mind and feature natural insulation and ventilation systems, the extensive use of sustainable materials and solar thermal panels for hot water. The centrepiece is a stunning glazed courtyard with its own ‘living wall’ of plants which improves the air quality throughout the venue.

The Forge is a not-for-profit family-run venue designed by Burd Haward Architects who worked with Arup Acoustics for the delicate acoustic result.

The Forge is part of a larger multi-use space which consists of Caponata, a Sicilian Ristorante, Osteria and Bar which serves delicious food, all handmade and prepared on-site.

Caponanta and The Forge are currently our official venue partners.
