How to be an MP: Classes get women ready for House work

NEW DELHI: They're getting ready to floor the House. With the Women's Reservation Bill slated to be passed in Parliament, MPs and women's organizations are working full throttle, via training workshops and online courses, to equip women to don the parliamentarian's cap. They're calling it creating a "pipeline of leadership".

To meet these challenges on a national scale, a political leadership training module — a joint initiative of the government of India and United Nation Development Programme's "Democracy Fund" — has already been rolled out with the NGO Centre for Social Research (CSR). CSR is the nodal agency partnering with Women Power Connect (WPC), an umbrella group advocating gender-friendly policies.
